For those who don’t know who I am my name is Alana-Kerri Broomham, you can just call me Alana, I’m 18 years old and quite frankly really mature for my age, well that’s what people tell me.
I finished year 12 last year and began working with my older sister at Seven hills Aqua learn the swim, what a blast that has been so far… all I have to say is she has a lot of days off. I love my job but most of all I love the children I teach, their little faces all smiling up at me, makes me want to get up and go to work a lot more.
I’ve been swimming since I was three, but sadly I’ve had to stop as I’ve got too many injuries from swimming almost 16 years, it was all worth it because I wouldn’t be the person I am today standing here as a role model for not only my younger sister but for my team.
I coach the Rooty Hill RSL swimming club at Mt Druitt pools with my older sister beside me, this has been a challenging task because I’ve never coached a team before but the support from my family and my loving partner get me through.
I’m a family person I try to be involved in their lives as much as possible, my younger sister Tahlia looks up to me the most as she is always following in my footsteps from sports to schools even clothes, I’m glad I can be a person she can look up to.
My plans for the future include becoming an aged care worker than going into nursing, I’ve always been passionate about helping people and hope to do so for the rest of my life. I hope to learn a lot from this uni course as it’s my ticket to follow my dream and help as many people as I can, I hope to put a smile on each of my patient’s face in the future.
